Jon Lombardo | Assistant Coach
Jon Lombardo joined the Lynchburg coaching staff for the 2013 season as a graduate assistant and became the program's full-time assistant in 2015. He had a stellar four-year career at Lynchburg from 2009-12. Along with coaching the defense, the native of Franklin Park, N.J. assists in recruiting potential student-athletes.
Lombardo started throughout his career at Lynchburg and was named captain as a junior. That season, he helped anchor one of the best defenses in the nation and earned several accolades, including second-team All-ODAC and All-State. As a senior in 2012, he earned first-team All-ODAC and All-State honors, along with an honorable mention All-American award.
Lombardo scooped up 138 groundballs and caused 67 turnovers in his career. However, his best attribute was his leadership, and he was awarded the Lynchburg College Men’s Lacrosse Leadership Award for those efforts in 2012.
Lombardo received his undergraduate degree in elementary education his master's in educational leadership.
Aaron Murphy | Assistant Coach
Aaron Murphy joins the coaching ranks after an outstanding four year career as a Hornet. The three-time All-American graduated in the spring of 2016 from LC with a degree in sport management. He finished his career as the program’s career assist leader and second all-time in points. Murphy also broke the LC single-season record twice for assists and also holds the mark for the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC). He helped lead the Hornets to the 2015 NCAA Division III Championship game, two ODAC titles and NCAA Tournament appearances in each of his four years.
Murphy has coaching experience in Aston, Pa., assisting rising eighth-grade boys. He organized practice and coached at several tournaments.
He will be pursuing his master's degree in educational leadership with a focus in higher education.
Eric Lombardo | Assistant Coach
Lynchburg alum Eric Lombardo joins the Hornets staff in 2017-18 after spending the last year as an assistant at York College under another Lynchburg alumnus, head coach Brandon Childs.
He was an All-American defenseman for Lynchburg's national runner-up team in 2015 as well as a first-team All-State and All-Old Dominion Athletic Conference pick. Lombardo helped Lynchburg to four NCAA tournament appearances and three ODAC championships in his playing career. His older brother, Jon, is also on staff at LC, and his younger brother, Evan, is a junior attackman on the team.
Lombardo will pursue a master's in educational leadership while on staff.
Steve Bradney | Assistant Coach
Steve Bradney completed his tenth season as an assistant coach with the Hornets.
The Corning, N.Y. native graduated from Ohio Wesleyan University in 1998 where he was a defender for the Bishops. Bradney earned his master's degree in athletic administration from Springfield College and helped guide the South Hadley Tigers lacrosse team to the Massachusetts state title game in 2002. He is currently the coordinator of intramurals and club sports at Lynchburg College. Bradney lives in Lynchburg with his wife Debbie and two daughters, Tatum and Talyn.
With the Hornets, Bradney works many jobs, but has done a great job with the face-off specialists. Many of these specialists have earned all-conference honors, including a first- and second-team honoree in 2012.
